Eastern Oregon is home to some of the best upland bird hunting in the country, with high bird densities and abundant opportunities. We scout year-round to ensure your hunt is successful. Chukar hunting is especially strong, with record numbers and ideal habitat. Quail are often found in large coveys. Pheasant numbers are rising, and we have reliable spots to find them. Sage-grouse populations are at a 20-year high. Waterfowl hunting, especially for ducks, can be solid depending on conditions. Turkey hunting is excellent and hunters can harvest up to 3 toms a season. We hunt public lands, and due to the remote location, pressure is minimal. We will always provide backup spots should you run into other hunters or want a plan B, C or D so you always have a place to hunt.
VISIT THE ODFW SITE —
To hunt in Oregon, you’ll need a license plus the right validations or tags for each species. Annual licenses are $34.50 for residents, $172 for non-residents, and $10 for youth (12–17); a 3-day non-resident license is $32.50. Upland hunters (quail, chukar, grouse, pheasant, partridge) need an upland validation $10 (residents) or game bird validation (non-residents). Sage-grouse also require a $2 permit (draw only). Waterfowl hunters need a license, federal duck stamp ($25), and a waterfowl validation $13.50. Turkey hunters need a license and a tag for each bird. Youth validations are $4, and kids under 12 don’t need licenses.
Bag limits include 10 quail, 8 chukar/partridge, 2 pheasant roosters, 2 sag-grouse per season, 7 ducks, 4 geese, and 3 turkeys per season. Visit ODFW for all rules and regulations.
